Jewellery Appraisals

Reg Grandis is one of only 8 Certified Gemmologist Appraisers accredited by the American Gem Society in all of Canada. Grandis Jewellers operates the only certified gem laboratory in the area (one of 10 in Canada) and less than 5% of the gemmologists in the world have Reg's experience and credentials. Grandis has 2 staff gemmologists on site and every member of the Grandis staff is a certified jewellery professional. They have to write a recertification exam each and every year to maintain their status.

Grandis does estate and insurance appraisals on site usually within a day or two or can be done while you wait. (appointments necessary).

Appraisal prices are $125 per piece. In the case of large estates, charges are based on an hourly rate.

We recommend you have your fine jewellery appraised or updated every 3 to 5 years to maintain realistic insurance coverage. Updates to Grandis appraisals are done at minimal cost once they are in our system.

If you are bringing us an appraisal for the first time, we recommend you bring any past appraisals, lab reports or supporting documentation that you may have. The more information that we have to work with, the better job we can do for you.
